Two infiltrating terrorists were gunned down by security forces along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector, said the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps on Friday.
The terrorists were killed after a gunfight took place as security personnel detected the movement of terrorists in the the Khari Karmara area of Poonch sector on Thursday night.
The operation continued through the night in which the two terrorists were killed and a number of weapons and war-like stores have been recovered.
Terrorist movement was detected last night at the Line of Control in Poonch sector. Alert troops swiftly engaged the infiltrating terrorists, triggering an intense & heavy firefight,” said the White Knight Corps in a post on X.
“The operation continued through the night, leading to the neutralization of two terrorists. The search of the area thus far has resulted in the recovery of a number of weapons and war-like stores. Operations continue,” it added.
Last month, five terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam where two security personnel sustained injuries. A cordon-and-search operation was launched on December 18 at Kadder in the Behibagh area of the district following information about the presence of suspected terrorists.
In November 2024, a terrorist was killed in a gunfight with security forces in the Rampora area of Sopore, Baramulla district. The security forces acted on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
In another encounter, one terrorist was killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district while two security personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire.
