Recently, India’s cricket team performed their finest game of 2023, a 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka that sealed India’s victory in the 2023 Asia Cup.
When Rohit Sharma was leading the team, they won their match in a record-setting 6.1 overs. With his devastating 6/21, Mohammed Siraj wiped out Sri Lanka’s batting order. India’s confidence levels will surely increase before the ODI World Cup, which begins on October 5, 2023.

Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar, the two GOATs of cricket
People often compare Virat Kohli to Sachin Tendulkar, mostly because Kohli never stops wanting to score runs. The huge number of runs he scored over the course of his 15-year career has made him a hero in the game of cricket. The past captain of the Indian team is still going strong. Kohli recently hit his 47th ODI century in a match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4. This gets him closer to Tendulkar’s all-time record of 49 ODI centuries. Kohli only needs three more centuries to become the first player to score 50 centuries in one-day internationals (ODIs). It seems likely that he will reach this goal soon.
Also, Kohli is second only to Tendulkar in the number of centuries he has scored in all types of cricket, with 77 to his credit. Kohli is also not too far behind in terms of overall runs. With 25,711 runs, he is already in the top five. There is a good chance that he will pass Mahela Jayawardena of Sri Lanka, who has 25,957 runs, in the upcoming ODI World Cup. This would put him in fourth place. But Tendulkar’s impressive career total of 34,357 runs is still a very hard mark to beat.
Sanjay Manjrekar makes a huge statement on Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar debate
Sanjay Manjrekar, a former Indian cricketer, has made some very astute observations about the similarities between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. He also made an interesting point about Kohli’s performance in Test matches.
The one similarity between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar is that both of them enjoy playing cricket. They want to be on the field. He was not part of the team for the game against Bangladesh (in Asia Cup 2023) but was still on the field. I don’t think Virat Kohli wants power or leadership,
He just wants to play and it looks like he enjoys being a part of the team. He captained the team for a very long time, so there is no scope for an unfulfilled dream. Being with the team, travelling with players, going to the ground, and being part of winning moments are more important to him than having power,
Sachin Tendulkar has 51 hundreds, 17 more than what Sunil Gavaskar finished with. For a good player, accumulating runs in ODIs is comparatively easy, as bowlers don’t always try to take a wicket. Tendulkar and Kohli are special because they also have a lot of Test hundreds. However, I believe it will be very difficult for Kohli to reach 51 Test centuries.
If we look at the stats, Virat Kohli has scored 29 Test centuries so far in his career with Team India, and Sachin Tendulkar has 51. It is important to note that both of the cricketers have shared the same objective of making the nation proud and have been successful in doing so. It will be interesting to see Kohli in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
