Juventus’s official social media account was reportedly hacked, leading to some surprising and humorous moments for the Serie A club. One of the most shocking posts claimed that Juventus had signed Real Madrid’s young midfield sensation Arda Güler, causing confusion and excitement among fans of both clubs.
The announcement, made on Juventus’s English account on X (formerly Twitter) on October 21, left fans perplexed, as no such deal had been reported. The club later clarified via its official account that the handle had been hacked, confirming that the post was false.
The hack comes during a season in which Juventus, under new manager Thiago Motta, have had a solid start to their Serie A campaign, sitting third in the league table after winning four of their first eight matches. Despite their decent form, Motta has never mentioned Arda Güler as a transfer target for the club, further confirming that the hack was behind the surprising post.
“Our Juventus English account has been compromised. Please ignore the false information being published on this account. We are working on the issue,” Juventus released a statement.
The false announcement sparked renewed interest in Arda Güler, who has been under the spotlight since his move to Real Madrid. The 19-year-old Turkish midfielder snubbed Barcelona in favor of Los Blancos last summer, but his first season at the Santiago Bernabéu was marred by injury. Güler managed to score six goals in just 10 La Liga appearances, but his 2023-24 season was largely spent on the sidelines.
Juventus will return to action in the Champions League on October 22 when they host VfB Stuttgart in Turin.
In the current campaign, Güler has struggled to find regular playing time, clocking just 291 minutes on the pitch, leading to speculation about his future. Though the Juventus hack was a prank, it briefly reignited fan interest in Güler’s career and potential transfers.
