Veteran actress Saira Banu was recently diagnosed with pneumonia and blood clots in her calves. However, recently she revealed that her health has shown significant improvement, and she is now focused on her recovery.
In an interview with India Today Digital, Saira Banu recently shared the latest update on her well-being after the recent health scare, saying, “I have improved a lot. The clots have dissolved. I have to get myself fitter and into physiotherapy. I am recuperating very well, and I am fine now.”
The actress expressed her gratitude for the support from her family and fans, and while she is taking it slow, she remains optimistic about regaining her strength. Saira also mentioned that her doctors are closely monitoring her condition, and she’s hopeful for a full recovery in the near future.
The actor faced several health challenges, including limited mobility earlier this year. However, her team later confirmed, “She is fine now. All the above-mentioned things have happened before, but now she is much better.”
Saira Banu’s health struggles have continued since the heartbreaking loss of her beloved husband, the legendary actor Dilip Kumar, in 2021. Reflecting on her recent hospitalization, she shared a deeply emotional connection to her late husband. In a poignant social media post, Saira reminisced about their wedding day, writing, “A nostalgic reminiscence from the hospital bed of my dream wedding 58 years ago.” She recalled how the song ‘Do Sitaron Ka Zameen Par Hai Milan Aaj Ki Raat’ played on the radio throughout the night of their wedding anniversary on October 11, a day she wished would never end. She added, “If someone had told me, ‘O Saira, you’ve got wings for real; you can fly,’ I would have believed them without hesitation. That’s how surreal that day felt, 58 autumns ago.” In her post, Saira expressed her enduring love and deep sense of loss, highlighting how much her memories with Dilip Kumar continue to shape her life.
Saira Banu was one of the leading actresses of the 1960s and early 1970s. Over her 23-year career, she appeared in numerous hit Bollywood films, including Bluff Master, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Jhuk Gaya Aasman, Padosan, Victoria No. 203, Hera Pheri, and Bairaag. Her final film before retiring was Faisla. Saira married Dilip Kumar in 1966, and they shared a deeply devoted relationship until his death in 2021.
