Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, revealed today that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned ₹202 crore for the infrastructure development of Agartala Government Dental College. Addressing the second foundation day celebration of the college at Town Hall, Dr. Saha also announced plans to create additional vacant posts in the institution.
“Having a dental college was once unimaginable, even in other northeastern states. Establishing one was my dream,” Dr. Saha said, recalling how earlier governments dismissed the idea. “Finally, I decided to set it up in the old IGM Hospital building, and within nine months, we inaugurated this 50-seat Dental College. I personally oversee its progress. Under the PM-DeVINE scheme, ₹202 crore has been sanctioned, and the tender process is underway.”
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to improving healthcare across the state. “We’ve already conducted two free kidney transplants and are preparing for liver and bone marrow transplants. We’re also working to ease the burden on the state hospital by strengthening district hospitals. A Cardiac Care Centre has been opened in Ambassa, Dhalai District,” he stated.
Highlighting future plans, Dr. Saha mentioned the upcoming establishment of homeopathy and Ayurvedic colleges. “Our commitment to enhancing healthcare is unwavering. Alongside infrastructure improvements, we will also create more vacant posts in the Dental College,” he added.
Dr. Saha concluded by directing officials and engineers to ensure meticulous planning for the sanctioned projects. “Our aim is to provide world-class healthcare facilities to the people of Tripura,” he said.
The foundation day celebration marked a significant milestone for the Agartala Government Dental College, which continues to progress under the Chief Minister’s leadership.
