Aamir Khan compares Khushi Kapoor to her mother late Sridevi, says ” I felt that I was watching Sridevi, Her energy was there”

Khushi Kapoor, who is gearing up for her big-screen debut in Karan Johar’s Loveyapa alongside Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, was recently compared to her late mother, the iconic actress Sridevi, by the Andaaz Apna Apna star.

While sharing his first thoughts about the film, Aamir Khan said, “I have watched the rough cut. I liked this film. It is very entertaining. The way our lives have turned out these days due to cell phones and the interesting things that happen in our life due to this have been shown here. All the actors have done a good job. When I watched the film and saw Khushi (Kapoor), I felt that I was watching Sridevi. Her energy was there, I could see. I am a huge fan of Sridevi.”

Khushi, the younger daughter of the late Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s 2023 Netflix film The Archies. The film also marked the debut of Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, and Agastya Bachchan, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan.

While talking about late Sridevi ji, Aamir Khan mentioned, “I am a very big fan of Sridevi. I always wanted to work with her. She was a brilliant artist. She always kept her talent latent when the camera was off. As soon as the camera starts rolling, she starts showing her true talent. She used to exude an energy which I found to be similar to Khushi Kapoor’s performance,” he added.

Loveyapa is an upcoming romantic comedy and the first theatrical release for Junaid and Khushi. Junaid previously made his debut with Maharaja. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, the film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Sharvari.

Directed by Advait Chandan, Loveyapa is set to hit theatres on February 7. The film is produced by Phantom Studios and AGS Entertainment. According to the makers, it is a “complex story of love and its intricacies, blending fun and laughter to create a cinematic delight.”
