WhatsApp users can now interact with the popular chatbot ChatGPT using images or voice messages. This means that users will be able to send voice messages or images and have their questions answered by the chatbot in text.
This comes after the tech giant announced the new features on its social media.
OpenAI took to X and wrote, “You can now upload images when asking a question.” You can also communicate with ChatGPT using voice messages.” The company also stated that WhatsApp users will soon be able to link their ChatGPT accounts (Free, Plus, and Pro) for additional functionality. However, the company did not specify the exact release date of the feature.
Going back to the voice and image text features, WhatsApp users can use ChatGPT by adding the number (1-800-242-8478) to their contacts. Once added, the feature will function similarly to the web-based ChatGPT. However, it eliminates the need to switch to ChatGPT via a browser or application by simply offering the service on WhatsApp.
Previously, the ChatGPT integration on WhatsApp was limited to text-based conversations. For those who are unfamiliar, the feature was first introduced in December 2024 and is now being expanded with new features.
According to reports, the chatbot will be available for free use for 15 minutes by US users. They can use the application for a long time, though, if they download it and sign in using their OpenAI account.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to see the view once media files on the linked devices. If true, this feature will allow the users to open a view once files on their laptops, secondary phones, or tablets, eliminating the need to take up the primary device to open it.
