Manipur Security Forces Recover Arms and Ammunition Amid Search for Missing Youth

Security forces in Manipur have intensified search operations to locate 20-year-old Luwangthem Mukesh, who has been missing since March 16, 2025. The coordinated efforts, involving Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and other agencies, have led to significant recoveries of arms and ammunition across multiple districts.

The search operations, concentrated in areas such as Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Joujangtek, and Old Cachar Road, have utilized advanced technical data analysis and intelligence gathering. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in locating the missing youth.

During the operations, security personnel confiscated weapons and tactical gear from various locations, including Langol Housing Complex in Imphal West and Haotak Awang Leikai in Bishnupur. Items recovered include INSAS rifles, SLR rifles, SMG carbines, camouflage uniforms, and ammunition. Additional recoveries were made in Jiribam District, where security forces seized INSAS rifles, magazines, and other supplies.

In a related development, several suspected militants affiliated with the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) were arrested. The arrests include individuals involved in extortion and other illegal activities. Security forces also dismantled a militant bunker in Kangpokpi District and ensured safe passage for essential goods trucks along NH-2 and NH-37.

The ongoing operations underscore the commitment of Manipur’s security forces to maintaining law and order while addressing insurgency-related challenges. As efforts continue, authorities remain focused on ensuring the safety and stability of the region.
