Qualcomm to Unveil Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 at April 2 Event

Qualcomm has officially scheduled a launch event on April 2, 2025, in China, where it is expected to introduce its latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Positioned as a successor to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, this new system-on-chip (SoC) is anticipated to deliver flagship-grade performance while targeting the upper mid-range segment.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, internally identified as model number SM8735, is rumored to feature a unique 1+3+2+2 CPU architecture. This configuration includes one Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.21 GHz for peak performance, three Cortex-A720 cores at 3.01 GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores at 2.80 GHz, and two Cortex-A720 cores at 2.02 GHz for efficiency. The chipset will also incorporate the Adreno 825 GPU, a slightly scaled-down version of the Adreno 830 found in Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Built on TSMC’s 4nm process, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is expected to offer enhanced energy efficiency and multitasking capabilities. Early benchmark leaks suggest the chipset has achieved over 2 million points on AnTuTu, placing it between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3 in terms of performance.

The first smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 are expected to debut in mid-April. Brands like iQOO, Redmi, and Xiaomi are reportedly preparing devices such as the iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro, Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, and Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro to showcase the new chipset.
