Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel Set for Promotions in BCCI’s 2025-26 Central Contracts

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce its central contracts for the 2025-26 season by the end of this week. According to sources, star spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are likely to be promoted from Grade B to Grade A, reflecting their consistent performances and contributions to India’s recent successes on the international stage.

Kuldeep and Axar have been instrumental in India’s triumphs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Kuldeep showcased his wicket-taking prowess, claiming 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup at an impressive average of 13.90 and an economy rate of 6.95. In the Champions Trophy, he added seven more wickets to his tally, further solidifying his reputation as a match-winner.

Axar Patel, known for his all-round abilities, played a pivotal role in both tournaments. His crucial contributions with both bat and ball, including a vital 47-run counter-attack in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, have earned him recognition as one of India’s key players. Axar’s leadership skills have also come to the fore, as he has successfully captained the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL season.

In addition to Kuldeep and Axar, middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer is expected to make a return to the central contract list after being excluded last season. Senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to retain their positions in the elite A+ grade.

The BCCI’s central contracts are a reflection of players’ performances and their value to the team. The anticipated promotions for Kuldeep and Axar underline their growing stature in Indian cricket and their importance in the team’s plans for the future. The official announcement is eagerly awaited by fans and players alike.
