In a landmark announcement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that the state government will provide 40,000 government jobs in a single recruitment drive scheduled for October 10, 2025. The initiative is part of the administration’s ongoing commitment to transparent, merit-based employment and aims to push the total number of appointments under the current regime to 1.60 lakh.
The announcement was made during a ceremonial event at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, where 481 appointment letters were distributed across the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Tourism, and Education Departments.

With these new appointments, the total number of government jobs distributed under the Sarma-led administration has reached 1.20 lakh, surpassing the original promise of 1 lakh jobs. The October 10 mega recruitment drive is expected to bring the tally to 1.60 lakh, with a long-term goal of 1.70 lakh jobs by 2026.
