Amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, the Government of Pakistan has officially clarified that it has not received any request for military assistance from Tehran. However, Islamabad reiterated its unequivocal moral and diplomatic support for Iran’s right to self-defence under international law.
🛑 No Military or Refugee Request from Tehran
Speaking at the weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan stated:
“We have not received any specific request for military support from Iran. Nor has there been any communication regarding the hosting of Iranian refugees.”
Khan emphasized that Iran has the right to defend itself under the UN Charter, and condemned Israeli strikes as violations of international law and Iranian sovereignty.
🕊️ Call for De-escalation and Diplomacy
Pakistan urged all parties to pursue a negotiated resolution to avoid a broader regional conflict. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has held diplomatic consultations with counterparts in Iran, Turkey, Egypt, the UAE, and the UK, warning that continued Israeli aggression could destabilize the entire Middle East.
🧭 Humanitarian Support and Evacuations
The Pakistani Embassy in Tehran and consulates in Mashhad and Zahedan are actively assisting in the evacuation of Pakistani nationals, with over 3,000 citizens repatriated so far.
“Our support for Iran is fundamental, unequivocal, and unambiguous,” Khan added, dismissing speculation about neutrality.
