Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming the state’s education landscape, stating that the focus on infrastructure and institutional development aims to prevent students from leaving the state for higher studies.
Speaking at a government event in Sabroom, South Tripura, CM Saha emphasized that the state has made significant strides in expanding medical and technical education, increasing medical seats from just 10–15 to 400 MBBS seats in recent years.
🏛️ Premier Institutions Now in Tripura
The state now boasts several national-level institutions, including:
- Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)
- National Forensic Science University (NFSU)
- National Law University (NLU)
- National Institute of Technology (NIT)
- National Sanskrit University
“We are building a robust education ecosystem so that our youth can pursue quality education without migrating to other states,” said CM Saha.
💰 Budget Boost and Global Support
Tripura’s annual budget has surged to ₹32,000 crore for FY 2025–26, up from ₹27,000 crore the previous year. The World Bank has also sanctioned ₹1,400 crore to support infrastructure development, including education.
🏫 ₹264 Crore Sanctioned for School Infrastructure
In a separate announcement, the state government allocated ₹264 crore to upgrade school facilities and promote digital learning, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020.
📈 Economic Growth and Educational Equity
CM Saha noted that Tripura now ranks second in per capita income among northeastern states and has seen a rise in State GST collections, reflecting broader economic progress that supports educational reforms.
