Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has greenlit a comprehensive ₹288.17 crore development plan for the Bhimashankar temple region, aiming to transform the revered Jyotirlinga site into a world-class spiritual and eco-tourism destination ahead of the 2027 Nashik Kumbh Mela.
🛕 Focus on Pilgrim Comfort and Eco-Tourism
Chairing a high-level review meeting at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, CM Fadnavis emphasized the need for time-bound execution of the project, which includes:
- Forest trails and ropeway services to improve accessibility
- Hotels, restaurants, and stay facilities in the Nigadale area
- Upgraded internal roads and transport networks
- Helipad construction for emergency and VIP access
- Dedicated police outpost and new power substation for safety and infrastructure resilience
“Bhimashankar attracts lakhs of devotees annually. We must ensure their safety and comfort while preserving the region’s natural beauty,” Fadnavis stated.
🛣️ Rajgurunagar–Taleghar–Bhimashankar Highway to Be Upgraded
The CM directed officials to prioritize the Rajgurunagar–Taleghar–Bhimashankar highway as a key transport corridor. Local shopkeepers and vendors will also benefit from modernized commercial spaces, ensuring inclusive development.
