AAP deliberately failing students in class 9, says PM Modi

Two days before the Delhi elections, Prime Minister questioning the much celebrated ‘education model’ of the Aam Aadmi Party said the party deliberately fails weaker students in class 9 to hike pass percentage of students in board exams, thereby painting a rosy picture of the government school and its academic model.

The Prime Minister reasoned that instead of giving students an equal playing ground to perform in the board exams, the weaker students are withheld only to prop up its ‘much-touted’ education model and show the party in good light. “In turn, the party is playing with the lives of young students and harming their future,” commented the PM.

Interacting with a group of students, the Prime Minister reasoned that until and unless the students promise that they will do well in the board exams, government schools make it a point to prevent weak students from writing the class 10 board exams.

The Congress on Sunday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) education model, alleging the tall claims made by the government were an eyewash and that number of Class 12 graduates declined under the current regime, when compared to Sheila Dikshit’s tenure as Delhi chief minister.

Citing government data showing 147,420 Class 12 graduates in 2013-14, Maken said: “They speak very highly of their education model, but the data points otherwise. It was 123,522 students in 2014-15 and by 2019-2020, had dropped to 109,098. Post-Covid, it has increased again, only because more students shifted from private to government schools as they could not afford the high fees. Even then, in 2023-24, the figure was 146,885.”
