‘AAPda For Delhi’: PM Modi Goes All Out Against AAP; Jabs Arvind Kejriwal Over ‘Sheeshmahal’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), terming the Delhi government an “Aapda” (disaster) that has taken over the national capital. The prime minister also attacked AAP leaders, saying that “a few kattar beimaan (cheaters) people have pushed Delhi towards aapda”, by keeping Anna Hazare at the front. “AAP aapda bankar Delhi par toot padi hai,” PM Modi said addressing a rally in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar, which, he said, served as his shelter during the 1975 Emergency in the country.

Targetting Arvind Kejriwal over his “sheeshmahal”, a name given to his residence by BJP, PM Modi took a veiled dig and said, “Mai bhi koi sheeshmahal bana sakta,” (I could have also built a palace for myself). “The country knows it well that Modi never built a home for himself but has built more than 4 crore houses for the poor. I urge all of you, whenever you interact and meet with slum dwellers, to ensure to tell them on my behalf that they will definitely get pucca houses, if not today, then tomorrow,” the PM added.

Addressing people after launching a slew of infrastructure projects in the national capital, PM Modi said the situation in the national capital would worsen if AAP’s reign continued. Giving a call for AAP’s defeat, Modi raised the slogan, “Aapda ko nahi sahenge, badal kar rahenge” (we will not tolerate ‘aapda’, we will remove it).”

PM Modi said that he was unable to fully help the people in Delhi as the AAP government is not allowing the Centre’s signature health insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat, and other programmes in the national capital.

“Ye AAP, ye ‘aapda’, Delhi par aayi hai, and hence the people of Delhi have waged a war against ‘aapda’. Voters of Delhi have made up their minds to free Delhi from this ‘aapda’. Every voter of Delhi is saying, aapda ko nahi sahenge, badal ke rahenge,” the PM added.

“In the last 10 years, Delhi has been surrounded by an ‘Aapda’. By keeping Anna Hazare at the front, a few ‘kattar beimaan’ people have pushed Delhi towards Aapda. AAP aapda bankar Delhi par toot padi hai,” he said.

If highways are being built in the capital and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has been able to make houses for the poor, it is because “aapda” does not have much role in these sectors, he added.

“On the one hand, the Centre is making a lot of efforts; on the other, the Union Territory government stands for brazen lies,” Modi said, accusing the AAP government of committing corruption in a host of sectors ranging from school education to fighting pollution and the liquor trade.

PM Modi inaugurated the 1,675 newly constructed flats for the dwellers of JJ clusters in Delhi today and handed over keys to eligible beneficiaries at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar. He also virtually inaugurated two urban redevelopment projects – the World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar and GPRA Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, CBSE’s Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka and also laid the foundation stone of Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh.
