Adani Energy secures ₹25,000 crore power transmission project, its largest order to date

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, India’s largest private transmission and distribution company, has secured a significant ₹25,000 crore contract for the Bhadla (Rajasthan) to Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) transmission project, its largest order win to date.

The contract boosts Adani Energy’s under-execution order book to ₹54,761 crore and expands its transmission network to 25,778 kilometre (km) with 84,186 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of transformation capacity, the energy arm of the Adani Group conglomerate said in a statement.

“AESL (Adani Energy) won the project under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism and REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) was the bid process coordinator. The project SPV got formally transferred to AESL on January 20, 2025,” Adani Energy said.

The Bhadla-Fatehpur project aims to establish a 6,000 megawatt (MW) HVDC system spanning approximately 2,400 km, along with 7,500 MVA of transmission capacity. The project will enable the evacuation of 6 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy from Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Zones to demand centers in North India and the national grid. Adani Energy plans to complete the project within 4.5 years.

Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy, said, “By enabling efficient evacuation of renewable energy from some of the most inhospitable regions of the country and connecting them to the national grid, AESL (Adani Energy) is playing its role in India’s decarbonization journey. We will be deploying latest technology and practices to deliver the project in time and with minimal environmental impact.”

Adani Energy said the Bhadla-Fatehpur project is its third HVDC project after the previously completed Mundra – Mahendragarh Project and the under-implementation Aarey-Kudus Project.

Shares of Adani Energy were trading 0.8% lower at ₹808.90 on the BSE, paring gains in-line with broader market losses on Tuesday.
