Adani Group, led by Chairman Gautam Adani, has announced plans to invest Rs 50,000 crore across various sectors in Assam. The announcement was made during the inaugural function of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment & Infrastructure Summit 2025 in Guwahati.
The investment will be directed towards the development of airports, aero cities, city gas distribution, power transmission, cement, and road projects. Addressing the summit, Adani emphasized the group’s commitment to contributing to the development of Assam and the northeastern region.
“We are eager to be a part of Assam’s progress story. We will invest Rs 50,000 crore in Assam,” Adani stated. He highlighted the group’s vision to support the state’s growth and infrastructure development.
Adani also praised the state government’s initiatives in combating social issues such as drug abuse and child marriages. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in making Assam and the entire Northeast region equal partners in India’s growth trajectory.
Adani lauded the ‘Act East Policy’ and various schemes enhancing connectivity and infrastructure, referring to them as “monuments of hope for the entire region.” He expressed confidence that these efforts would position the northeastern states as catalysts for India’s future growth and strengthen trade and investment ties with Southeast Asia.
The business summit hosted by Assam has drawn significant investments, often exceeding initial expectations. In a statement, an Adani group company mentioned that Prime Minister Modi, who inaugurated the summit, unveiled the ‘Bamboo Orchids’ design of the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport. Inspired by Assam’s natural beauty, the design symbolizes biodiversity, strength, and sustainability.
The NITB, currently under construction, will have the capacity to manage 13.1 million passengers per annum (MPPA), making it the first airport terminal of its kind in the northeast region of India. It is expected to be operational in the last quarter of 2025.
