Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja expressed his disappointment over the lack of competitive spirit from the Pakistan cricket team during their one-sided loss to India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A clash. India secured a six-wicket victory against their arch-rivals at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, February 23.
Despite India’s dominant performance, Jadeja felt that the overall quality of the game suffered due to Pakistan’s lackluster display. He stated, “I am happy for India but cricket lost. I am a bit disappointed with the overall game. Pakistan didn’t even win a moment in the match. Pakistan don’t have the skills we used to associate with them in the past.”
Pakistan was bowled out for just 241 runs in 49.4 overs, with their batting lineup showing little intent for most of the innings. Khushdil Shah’s late flurry of runs and Saud Shakeel’s fifty, along with a third-wicket stand of 104 runs with captain Mohammad Rizwan, were the only highlights in an otherwise lackluster performance.
In response, India’s captain Rohit Sharma set the tone with a quickfire 20 runs off 15 balls, showcasing the urgency needed in modern ODI cricket. Shubman Gill (46 off 52) and Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67) provided solid support, while Virat Kohli’s 82nd international hundred ensured India crossed the finish line with 45 balls to spare.
During a live post-match show called ‘Dressing Room’ on Pakistan’s Ten Sports channel, Jadeja commented on Pakistan’s performance, saying, “Except toss, what did you win? You didn’t even win hearts. Yes, you can win and lose games, but even in defeats, there comes a moment where you win hearts. Pakistan couldn’t even do that today”.
India will face New Zealand in their next match on March 2 in Dubai, while Pakistan will take on Bangladesh on February 27 in Rawalpindi.
