Alia was also supposed to star in SLB’s Inshallah which is now reportedly shelved and this didn’t sit well with the female superstar. The filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently revealed how it made an impact on Alia after which he offered her Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Alia Bhatt’s Reaction After Inshallah Was Shelved
In a recent interview, Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed the reaction of Alia Bhatt after the film was scrapped. Revealing how it took a toll on her mental health, SLB revealed, “She broke down, she cracked up, cried, raved, ranted, and locked herself in a room.”
According to the reports, it was a week later after this incident when SLB offered her the titular role in the Gangubai Kathiwadi that brought the actress prestigious National Award. Earlier, Alia Bhatt revealed how it was all overwhelming for her, “From LA, where I was supposed to play the character in Inshallah, I suddenly found myself in Kamathipura. I didn’t know if I could do it.”
However, in his recent conversation, SLB revealed how Alia turned herself into the resilient Gangu and how the role is a ‘part of her now’.
