Asian Games 2023: India win silver in women’s trap team event in shooting

India continued their dream run in shooting in Asian Games 2023 after the Indian women’s team won the silver medal in the trap event. The trio of Manisha Keer, Preeti Rajak and Rajeshwari Kumar amassed 337 points to finish second.

China won the gold medal after Qingnian Li, Cuicui Wu and Xinqui Zhang scored 357 points to also made a world record.

Manisha also made her way through to the individual final after he finished on 114 points, tied with Kazakhstan’s Aizhan Dosmagambetova. Preeti and Rajeshwari finished with 112 and 111 points respectively, but failed to qualify for the individual finals.

Kazakhstan won the bronze medal in the team event after Mariya Dmitriyenko, Anastassiya Prilepina and Dosmagambetova fetched 336 points.

Manisha, Preeti and Rajeshwari also helped India win their seventh silver medal in shooting in the ongoing tournament in Hangzhou. Apart from the women’s team, the men’s team also brought a medal for India on Sunday. The men’s team, comprising Darius Kynan Chenai, Zoravar Singh Sandhu and Prithviraj Tondaiman won the gold medal.

India have now won a stunning 21 medals (7 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze) in shooting in the Hangzhou Games. India will have a chance to win two more medals later on Sunday when the individual trap events take place.

Back in the 2006 Asian Games, India won 14 medals in shooting. In the ongoing championship, India have gone past that tally by a long distance. Among the 21 medals, teenager Esha Singh has won four medals.
