Assam Receives ₹40,000 Crore Investment Proposals in Three and a Half Years: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state has received investment proposals worth ₹40,000 crore over the past three and a half years. Several projects from these investment proposals are currently in various stages of implementation, signaling a significant shift in the industrial landscape of Assam.

“Earlier, some years ago, Assam’s atmosphere was not fit for industrialisation,” Sarma stated. “But we are seeing changes in the situation.”

Speaking at the inauguration of a new bottling plant near Guwahati, Sarma highlighted the evolving industrial environment in Assam. The new plant, spanning over 6 lakh square feet, is one of the largest beverage manufacturing units in the Northeast. With an initial production capacity of over 10 crore liters for carbonated soft drinks (CSD) and nearly 18 crore liters for packaged drinking water, the facility is expected to generate 300 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs.

“Our youth had to move outside of Assam earlier to seek employment,” Sarma remarked. “Now, with the advent of industrialisation, they can return home.”

The Chief Minister’s announcement underscores the growing investment interest in Assam and the state’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for industrial growth. The new bottling plant represents just one of the many projects contributing to the region’s economic development and job creation.

As Assam continues to attract significant investments, the state is poised for further industrialisation and economic progress, providing opportunities for its residents and strengthening its position in the national economy.
