In a major crackdown on smuggling, Assam Rifles and the Customs Department conducted a well-coordinated operation in Badarghat, West Tripura, leading to the seizure of 1.15 kg of gold. The intercepted consignment included 14 bars and unfinished 24-carat ornaments, valued at Rs. 1.02 crore.
### Operation Details
According to intelligence sources, the gold originated from Dubai and was smuggled through Bangladesh before reaching Tripura, where it was set to be processed before being transported to New Delhi. Two individuals linked to the operation have been apprehended and are currently under investigation.
### Major Marijuana Haul
In another significant breakthrough, security forces confiscated 2,286.9 kg of marijuana in Bijoynagar, West Tripura. With an estimated international market value of Rs. 10.29 crore, this marks one of the largest narcotics hauls in the region’s history.
Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles swiftly intercepted the consignment, preventing a massive quantity of illegal substances from reaching the market. Two suspects were detained, and the confiscated drugs have been handed over to authorities for further legal proceedings.

Assam Rifles is actively working to combat smuggling and drug trafficking as part of the Nasha Mukt Tripura mission. Since January 2025, they have conducted 20 successful operations and seized illegal goods worth Rs. 65.56 crore.
