Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the state-of-the-art Pentland Government Vellore Super Multi-Speciality Hospital on June 25, marking a major milestone in the region’s healthcare infrastructure. Built at a cost of ₹197.81 crore, the facility is located within the historic Pentland Hospital campus and is expected to significantly enhance tertiary medical services in northern Tamil Nadu.
Advanced Healthcare for All
The newly inaugurated hospital comprises three seven-storey blocks, each dedicated to specialized departments including cardiology, neurology, nephrology, urology, pediatrics, and plastic surgery. The facility is equipped with modern operation theatres, post-operative wards, central laboratories, x-ray units, and counseling centers for cancer patients, ensuring comprehensive care under one roof.
Boost to Public Health Infrastructure
Alongside the flagship hospital, CM Stalin also inaugurated:
- Seven upgraded Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Serkadu, Thiruvalam, Odugathur, Usur, Ponnai, Lakshmipuram, and Thorappadi
- Two new Sub-Health Centres in Pernampet and Anicuttu Mahamadupuram
- Total investment in these auxiliary health projects: ₹7 crore
Political and Public Presence
The event witnessed a massive turnout of local residents and was attended by key ministers including Duraimurugan, E.V. Velu, Ma. Subramanian, and R. Gandhi, along with MPs, MLAs, and Vellore Mayor Sujatha Anandakumar. The inauguration is part of the DMK government’s broader push to strengthen public healthcare access and decentralize medical services across districts.
