Commenters mock Harry Brook for ‘smog’ comment after Varun Chakravarthy bamboozles batter

England vice-captain Harry Brook is currently facing heavy criticism, especially after his ‘smog’ comment made following the game in Kolkata.

He believed that smog was one of the reasons why the three Lions failed to set a good score in the first T20I. Now, in the second T20I game, he was dismissed quickly again by the same bowler, Varun Chakravarthy, who had cleaned him up in Kolkata. Brook had said, ‘He’s tough to pick. I think actually with the smog the other night, it was a lot harder to pick as well,’ after the first T20I in Kolkata.

This statement garnered much attention and became a topic of discussion here as well at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai where both teams are playing 2nd T20I. Former India coach Ravi Shastri took a dig at Brook regarding the comment ahead of the second T20I, saying, ‘Good news for Harry Brook. There is no smog here.’

Also, when Brook was batting and Varun Chakravarthy dismissed him in the seventh over, Sunil Gavaskar quipped, ‘The light is clearer here. There is no smog.’ Now, all these remarks are adding fuel to the fire, and things are heating up the Chennai weather even more. Take a look at all the reactions on social media X regarding Harry Brook’s ‘smog’ comment.
