‘Couldn’t Hold Back Tears, They Sang So Beautifully’: President Droupadi Murmu Moved by Visually Impaired Students’ Tribute

President Droupadi Murmu was visibly emotional during her visit to the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) in Dehradun, where a group of visually impaired students performed a heartfelt birthday song to mark her 67th birthday.

“I couldn’t hold back my tears. They sang so beautifully—from their hearts,” the President said, lauding the students’ soulful performance.

The performance, part of a cultural program during her three-day visit to Uttarakhand, left the President teary-eyed and drew widespread admiration on social media. She also inaugurated the Rashtrapati Tapovan and Rashtrapati Niketan, and laid the foundation for Rashtrapati Udyan, all part of a broader push toward ecological preservation and accessible infrastructure in the Himalayan region.
