CRPF DG Meets Manipur Governor, Discusses Operational Activities and Security

CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to provide a comprehensive briefing on the deployment and operational activities of the para-military force in the region. Officials said the meeting was aimed at assessing the ground situation and refining the force’s approach to maintaining peace in the state.

Briefing and Preparedness

Singh, who previously served as the Director General of Assam Police before assuming his current role on January 30, assured the Governor that the CRPF is well-prepared to handle any situation. “The force is well prepared to control any situation at any point in time,” Singh informed Bhalla.

Focus on Security Coordination

The discussion between the CRPF DG and Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary, centered on the CRPF’s role in bolstering security and its coordination with Manipur police to ensure lasting peace in the state. Singh also presided over a strategic review meeting in Imphal West district with senior officers to evaluate the ground situation and refine the force’s strategy.

*Deployment of CAPF*

Following the outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur on May 3, 2023, thousands of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, including the CRPF, Army, Assam Rifles, and Border Security Force (BSF), have been deployed in the trouble-torn state to restore order and maintain peace.

Political and Financial Discussions

Meanwhile, a delegation of the National People’s Party (NPP), led by Manipur state President Y. Joykumar Singh, also called on the Governor to discuss the prevailing situation in the state. Additionally, S. Radhakrishnan, Chief General Manager of the State Bank of India (SBI), Guwahati Circle, along with other officials, briefed the Governor on various initiatives undertaken by the bank to reach even the far-flung areas of the state.

High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2025

In other news, the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2025, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM), commenced on Wednesday. A total of 39,052 students, including 535 displaced students affected by ethnic violence, are appearing for the examination across 155 centers in the state. The centers include 62 in the hill districts and 93 in the valley districts. Board officials reported that 8,468 students are from 306 government schools, 27,374 students belong to 583 private schools, and 1,210 students are from 60 government-aided schools across the state.

As Manipur continues to navigate its challenges, the coordinated efforts of security forces, government officials, and educational institutions aim to bring stability and progress to the region.
