Dhubri Prepares for Panchayat Election Vote Counting Amid Tight Security

As Assam gears up for the vote counting process in the recently concluded Panchayat elections, Dhubri district is witnessing heightened security measures to ensure a smooth and transparent counting procedure.

Security Reinforcements and Counting Arrangements

The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) has deployed additional security personnel across counting centers in Dhubri, given the district’s record-high voter turnout of 88.63% in the final phase of polling. Authorities have assured that the process will be conducted fairly and efficiently, with strict monitoring to prevent any irregularities.

Political Concerns and Allegations

The Congress party has raised concerns over potential vote tampering, urging the State Election Commission (SEC) to ensure a transparent counting process. Congress leaders have alleged that certain polling booths witnessed irregularities, prompting demands for strict oversight during the counting phase.

High Voter Turnout and Election Significance

The Assam Panchayat elections, conducted in two phases on May 2 and May 7, saw an overall 74.71% voter turnout. Dhubri district recorded the highest participation, surpassing other regions in Assam.
