Djokovic Eyes 25th Grand Slam at Wimbledon, Hints at Possible ‘Last Dance’

As the curtains rise on Wimbledon 2025, tennis icon Novak Djokovic has made a candid admission about the possibility of this being his “last dance” at the All England Club. The 38-year-old Serbian, chasing a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title, acknowledged that while he hopes to continue playing, retirement is no longer a distant thought.

🎾 “Wimbledon Could Be My Best Chance”: Djokovic

In a pre-tournament press conference, Djokovic said:

“Whether it could be my last dance, I’m not sure… My wish is to play for several more years. I would love to be healthy physically and also mentally motivated to keep on playing at the highest level. That’s the goal, but you never know at this stage”.

He admitted that Wimbledon offers his best shot at making history, given his seven titles at the grass-court major and deep emotional connection with the tournament.

🏆 Chasing Federer’s Record, Cementing Legacy

Djokovic, currently tied with Margaret Court at 24 Grand Slam titles, is aiming to:

  • Become the first player in history to win 25 Grand Slams
  • Equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles
  • Reclaim dominance after losing the last two Wimbledon finals to Carlos Alcaraz

Despite being seeded sixth—his lowest Wimbledon seeding since 2018—Djokovic remains a formidable contender.

🧠 “I’m Not Chasing Rankings Anymore”

Djokovic emphasized a shift in mindset:

“I don’t chase the rankings anymore… I’m trying to play the best tennis in Grand Slams and trying to win Grand Slams”.

He acknowledged the rise of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who have won the last six majors between them, but remains focused on legacy over numbers.

📅 Wimbledon 2025 Campaign Begins

Djokovic opens his campaign against Alexandre Muller of France. A potential quarterfinal clash with Jack Draper and a semifinal showdown with World No. 1 Jannik Sinner loom large.
