In what could be a major boost to Team Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Ranji Trophy quarters against Vidarbha, star GT batter Sai Sudharsan has joined the squad, after recovering from his sports hernia injury.
The match is to be played in Nagpur on Saturday. Notably, the batsman was out of action since the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November, and underwent a surgery in UK.
Sai Sudharsan would fit well in the middle-order now, given Baba Indrajith has been ruled out due to a calf injury, in the final group match against Jharkhand. In fact, Sonu Yadav has also recovered from his injury, and has been included in the 16-member squad.
As far as Tamil Nadu’s performance in the Ranji Trophy this year is concerned, they lost by 44 runs to Jharkhand, and barely made it to the quarters. Even though Chandigarh and TN, both finished on 25 points each, yet the Southern side went ahead in the competition, due to more bonus points under their name. From the Group, Saurashtra also progressed to the quarters.
For the record, Sai Sudharsan has played 28 FC matches so far, and scored 1948 runs at an average of 41.44. He has 7 tons and five fifties to his name.
