Guwahati Smart City Projects: ₹422 Cr Completed, ₹633 Cr Nearing Finish Line

The Guwahati Smart City Mission has achieved a significant milestone with projects worth ₹422 crore completed, while another ₹633 crore worth of works are in advanced stages of completion, according to the latest review chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The update came during the 41st Board of Directors meeting of Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL), held to assess the progress of ongoing urban transformation initiatives.

🏙️ Key Projects Completed

Among the completed projects under the Smart City framework are:

  • Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) for real-time urban governance
  • Smart Roads and LED Street Lighting across major corridors
  • Public Wi-Fi zones, smart bus shelters, and e-toilets
  • Revamped parks and green spaces under Area-Based Development (ABD)

These initiatives aim to enhance urban mobility, safety, and citizen services, aligning with the mission’s goal of creating a sustainable and inclusive urban ecosystem.

🚧 ₹633 Crore Projects Nearing Completion

The projects nearing completion include:

  • Brahmaputra Riverfront Development, envisioned as a cultural and recreational hub
  • Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) to streamline vehicular flow
  • Smart Water Supply and Drainage Systems
  • Digital infrastructure upgrades for e-governance and surveillance

These works are expected to be completed by early 2026, significantly improving Guwahati’s urban resilience and livability.
