Hyderabad: The attendance of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani in Donald Trump’s inauguration functions made headlines with some section of people terming it as an ‘exclusive honour.’
However, a recent revelation about the function being a paid event came to the light.
According to reports, the inauguration functions were a fundraising event and an opportunity to have exclusive access to the now-elected President and Vice-President.
The fundraising material revealed that a maximum of $1 million contribution, which is equivalent to Rs.8.65 crore, is required to have exclusive access to the President.
Further, the event also had other packages presented to the interested attendees. The highest-tier package grants two tickets to an exclusive dinner with the Vice-President Vance and six tickets to the ‘candlelight dinner’ where Trump is expected to attend. In contrast, there are lesser packages which significantly diminishes the access and exclusive opportunities.
Several donors, industrialists, and lobbyists perceived this event as an essential opportunity that allows close proximity to the newly elected US President. For several individuals having ambitious business ideas look at the tickets as a calculated investment to increase their influence and a platform to lobby their idea.
This sparks the rumours regarding the Ambani family’s significant presence in the Trump’s inauguration functions, where several people wonder whether, otherwise portrayed as a formal invitation, had been purchased by the family to attend the event.
Ticket Tiers and Perks
$1 Million Ticket – Includes access to both the candlelight dinner, which is expected to be attended by Donald Trump, and an exclusive dinner with the vice-president.
$500,000 – Only provides access to the candlelight dinner
$50,000 – This ticket only allows access to events where other Cabinet officials are also present
