‘Peak Bengaluru Moment’: Virtual Receptionist At Hotel Check-In Sparks Tech Takeover Debate

Bengaluru, known as India’s tech hub, is making headlines again for its innovative solutions. Ananya Narang, CEO of Entourage, recently experienced a unique hotel check-in at a Bengaluru establishment.

Instead of interacting with front desk staff, she was surprised to find a virtual receptionist managing guest services through a laptop screen. She shared her experience on LinkedIn and X, calling it a “Peak Bengaluru” moment.

Narang noted that the hotel had minimal physical staff, consisting of just two security guards and a few technicians. All guest interactions, including check-in and concierge services, were handled remotely by trained hospitality professionals via video conferencing.

In her post, she wrote, “Once I checked in, I realised the hotel had no staff except for two security guards and one or two technicians. Everything was coordinated by trained hospitality staff managing multiple properties. You won’t see this anywhere else in India yet, except in Silicon Valley.”

The introduction of the virtual receptionist has ignited a lively discussion on social media. Some users praised the use of technology, suggesting it could streamline hotel operations. One user stated, “That’s amazing! I guess the hotel staff is now just a click away. Who needs a physical receptionist?”
