Focus on Hyderabad to achieve Telangana’s trillion-dollar economy: Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said that he aims to transform Telangana into a trillion dollar economy, with Hyderabad becoming the favoured place for global investments.

Addressing a Leadership Summit at the Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad, he emphasised that Hyderabad should compete with global cities like New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Seoul, rather than just other Indian cities.
“My aim is to make Telangana a trillion dollar economy. Hyderabad needs to be developed as a $600 billion city to achieve the goals of a trillion-dollar economy. We need ISB’s help to promote Telangana in every part of the world,” Reddy, the Congress Chief Minister, said.

The ‘trillion dollar economy’ refers to governments with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of more than a trillion US dollars per year. Telangana’s current Gross State Domestic Product stands at Rs 13.59 lakh crore ($200 billion).

During his address, the Chief Minister also encouraged the ISB students to engage with investors, business leaders, and the public about the potential of Telangana and Hyderabad during their travels.

Reddy stated that his government is open to collaborating with ISB for two to three years. “We may not offer big salaries but give good opportunities and big challenges,” he added.

The Chief Minister mentioned the establishment of a skill university and plans for a Sports University in Gachibowli, inspired by his visit to a Sports University in South Korea, a nation that has excelled in the Olympics.

Reddy expressed his ambition for India to win Olympic medals, stating that his ultimate goal is to make Hyderabad a role model for the entire country.
