Maine Pyar Kiya Singer Sharda Sinha On Oxygen Support, Weeks After Losing Husband

Sharda Sinha Health Update: The popular folk singer is on oxygen support following a health complication due to cancer, according to an AIIMS official.

The 72-year-old singer, who has sung in movies, including Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, has been suffering from multiple myeloma since 2017, is in the ICU of Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital (IRCH), the cancer institute of AIIMS.

This news has come just weeks after the singer lost her husband Braj Kishore Sinha following a brain haemorrhage due to a fall.

Sharda Sinha’s son Anshuman debunks reports of the singer on a ventilator
Several reports have claimed Sharda Sinha was put on a ventilator after her health deteriorated. However, his son Anshuman Sinha called them “fake” and requested that people not spread negativity. He took to Sharda Sinha’s Instagram handle and shared a video informing the followers that the veteran singer is critical but not on a ventilator. He shared that the singer is conscious and responding, but not everyone is allowed to meet the singer.

“Sharda Sinha is hemodynamically stable but under constant monitoring. She has been suffering from multiple myeloma since 2017,” Dr Rima Dada, professor in-charge of AIIMS media cell, said.

Who is Sharda Sinha?
Be it songs in Maithili, Bhojpuri or Magahi languages, Sharda Sinha has become a household name in the state. In 1991, she was awarded the Padma Shri for her contributions to music. In 2018, she was awarded Padma Vibhushan.

Folk songs sung by her are an integral part of the Chhath festival. She has also sung for superhit Bollywood movies such as Gangs of Wasseypur-2, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, and Maine Pyar Kiya.
