Assam has taken a significant step toward empowering its traditional artisan community with the launch of a brand new facility in the Upper Brahmaputra region. The Handloom Trade Centre, situated strategically at Chowkidinghee close to the ASTC Bus Terminal in Dibrugarh, officially opened its doors on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The formal opening ceremony was led by Biswajit Daimary, who serves as the state minister for Handloom, Textiles, and Sericulture. His presence underscored the high-level commitment of the administration toward fostering sustainable growth within the traditional textile and handloom sectors.<\/p>\n

Realizing this ambitious infrastructure project required substantial financial commitment. The facility was constructed with a total investment amounting to Rs 991.70 lakh. Funding for the initiative came through a collaborative financial framework supported jointly by the North Eastern Council alongside the Government of Assam.<\/p>\n

Traditional weaving forms a core pillar of the cultural and economic identity of the region.
