Supported through ArcGIS Online, the Digital Atlas Program is available free of cost to schools across India.<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n\t\u00a0<\/p>\n<table align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsvoir.com\/images\/article\/image1\/36712_esri-image.jpg\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\n\t<strong><span><span>Esri India Launches Digital Atlas Program for Schools<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\t<span><span>With curriculum-relevant content and ready-to-use resources, the program is aimed to help teachers create learning experiences that spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and connect classroom concepts to real-world situations. It will enable students to ask questions and find answers, discover the world beyond the textbook, and turn their discoveries into creative projects. By exploring relationships between people, places, and the environment, students will develop a deeper and more connected understanding of geography. The aspiration is to move students from being map users to map investigators, and eventually, knowledge creators.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t<strong>Agendra Kumar, Managing Director, Esri India<\/strong>, said, \u201c<em>Through the Digital Atlas Program, we want to make geography learning more engaging for school students. The vision is to have students see geography differently. Instead of simply asking, \u2018Where is it?\u2019, students can start asking, \u2018Why is it there?\u2019, \u2018What is connected to it?\u2019, \u2018What does this pattern tell me?\u2019, and even, \u2018What could happen next?\u2019 For example, while learning about urban flooding, their questions can become more inquiry-driven, such as, \u2018Where did the flooding take place?\u2019, \u2018Why did it happen?\u2019, \u2018How many people were impacted?\u2019, \u2018What could cause flooding to happen again?\u2019, \u2018What can be done to prevent it?\u2019, and so on. The Digital Atlas Program brings together maps, data, and context to drive this kind of inquisitiveness. Importantly, since the program is curriculum-linked, it makes learning geography exciting right in the classroom<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\tGIS is becoming increasingly integral to how we understand and address the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Today\u2019s students are the future of our country, and nurturing spatial thinking through school education can enable them to view real-world challenges from a geographic perspective from an early age. The Digital Atlas Program is not just about teaching students to use maps. It is about developing spatial thinking.
