Indian Army Successfully Tests Hybrid UAV Drone ‘Rudrastra’ at Pokharan!

In a major boost to India’s defense capabilities, the Indian Army has successfully conducted trials of the indigenous hybrid UAV drone ‘Rudrastra’ at the Pokharan Firing Range. Developed by Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited (SDAL), the Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) UAV demonstrated high endurance, precision targeting, and mission flexibility during the trials.

🔴 Key Highlights:

  • Rudrastra completed a mission radius of over 50 km, maintaining a stable real-time video link throughout.
  • The UAV successfully returned to its launch point, showcasing operational reliability.
  • Total range exceeded 170 km, including loitering time over the target area, with an endurance of approximately 1.5 hours.
  • A precision-guided anti-personnel warhead was deployed, executing an airburst detonation at low height, ensuring maximum tactical effectiveness.
  • The trials align with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, reinforcing self-reliance in defense technology.

📢 Expert’s Statement:
“Rudrastra’s successful trials mark a significant step in India’s UAV capabilities, enhancing surveillance, reconnaissance, and precision strike operations,” said an SDAL spokesperson.

⚠️ Strategic Impact:

  • The UAV’s VTOL capability eliminates the need for runways, making it ideal for tough terrains and rapid deployment.
  • The Indian Army is expected to induct Rudrastra soon, strengthening border surveillance and combat readiness.
