Iranian Official Claims Pakistan Will Retaliate with Nuclear Strike if Israel Attacks Tehran; Can Shaheen-3 Reach Tel Aviv?

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, a senior Iranian official has claimed that Pakistan would launch a nuclear strike on Israel if the Jewish state uses nuclear weapons against Iran. The statement, made by General Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran’s National Security Council and senior commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has sparked global concern.

What Did Iran Say?

In an interview on Iranian state television, Rezaei stated:

“Pakistan has told us that if Israel uses nuclear missiles, we will also attack it with nuclear weapons.”

This assertion comes as Israel and Iran exchange missile fire, with both nations accusing each other of targeting military and nuclear facilities.

Pakistan Denies Nuclear Threat

Despite Iran’s claims, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has denied any such commitment, clarifying that Islamabad has not pledged nuclear retaliation. However, Pakistan has expressed strong diplomatic support for Iran, calling for Muslim unity against Israeli aggression.

Can Shaheen-3 Missile Reach Tel Aviv?

Pakistan’s Shaheen-3 ballistic missile has a range of up to 2,750 kilometers, making it capable of striking targets anywhere in Israel, including Tel Aviv. The missile is part of Pakistan’s strategic arsenal and is believed to be operational under its Strategic Forces Command.

Geopolitical Implications

  • Israel maintains nuclear ambiguity, refusing to confirm or deny its arsenal.
  • Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful, though tensions with Israel have intensified.
  • The international community has urged restraint, fearing a broader regional conflict.
