Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a stern warning to the United States, stating that any action based on President Donald Trump’s threats would result in a “strong reciprocal blow.” The remarks come after Trump reiterated his ultimatum to bomb Iran if it fails to agree to a new nuclear deal within a two-month window.
Khamenei, addressing the nation on March 31, emphasized that while the likelihood of an attack is low, Iran is prepared to respond decisively to any mischief. “The enmity from the US and Israel has always been there. They threaten to attack us, which we don’t think is very probable, but if they commit any mischief, they will surely receive a strong reciprocal blow,” he said.
Iran has also conveyed its stance to the Swiss embassy, which represents US interests in Tehran, expressing its determination to respond immediately to any threats. The Iranian Foreign Ministry described Trump’s open threat of bombing as a shocking affront to international peace and security.
This development adds to the escalating tensions between the two nations, with Iran rejecting direct negotiations but remaining open to indirect talks. The situation underscores the fragile state of US-Iran relations, which have been strained since Trump’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal during his first term.
