Mumbai: The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 witnessed an emotional moment as Kunal Bahl, co-founder of Snapdeal and Titan Capital, connected deeply with the story of a 64-year-old entrepreneur, Champa. The founder of Krishna Sakhi, a business specializing in handcrafted jewelry for divine idols, Champa’s pitch moved the panel of investors with her passion and resilience.
Champa shared how her devotion to Lord Krishna inspired her to create intricate jewelry, which has gained recognition across India, including being used to adorn the Radha Krishna idol at the prestigious Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. Seeking ₹37.5 lakh for a 2.5% equity stake, she expressed her desire to scale production and expand her market reach.
While all the sharks admired her dedication, Kunal Bahl was particularly touched, remarking, “Mujhe aap mein apni maa dikh rahi hai… Mera dil haan keh raha hai, par dimaag na bol raha hai” (I see my mother in you… My heart says yes, but my mind says no). Despite his emotional connection, Bahl ultimately decided not to invest, citing concerns about the scalability of the niche business.
The other sharks, including Vineeta Singh and Peyush Bansal, advised Champa to focus on organic growth rather than external funding, given the specialized nature of her venture. Although she left without a deal, Champa earned immense respect and admiration for her entrepreneurial spirit, proving that age is no barrier to pursuing one’s dreams.
This heartfelt moment on Shark Tank India 4 has resonated with viewers, highlighting the power of passion and perseverance in entrepreneurship.
