Leaked WhatsApp Chats Reveal TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee’s Heated Spat with Woman MP

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) finds itself embroiled in controversy as leaked WhatsApp chats and videos expose a bitter altercation between party MP Kalyan Banerjee and a woman MP. The incident, which reportedly occurred at the Election Commission headquarters on April 4, has sparked widespread debate and scrutiny of internal tensions within the party.

The leaked chats, shared by BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya, reveal a series of heated exchanges between Banerjee and fellow TMC MP Kirti Azad in the party’s official WhatsApp group. Banerjee’s messages included cryptic references to a “versatile international lady” and accusations of misconduct, while Azad responded by urging Banerjee to act responsibly and avoid instigating conflicts.

The controversy began when a TMC delegation visited the Election Commission to submit a memorandum regarding voter identity cards. A disagreement over the signing of the memorandum reportedly led to a public spat between Banerjee and the woman MP. Banerjee later accused the MP of asking security personnel to arrest him, claiming he was subjected to verbal abuse.

In response to the leaked chats, senior TMC leader Saugata Roy expressed disappointment, calling the language used by Banerjee “unfortunate” and urging party leadership to address the matter. Roy also confirmed that the woman MP had protested against Banerjee’s behavior, leading to further tensions within the party.

The incident has raised questions about factionalism within the TMC, as the party prepares for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. While the authenticity of the leaked chats remains unverified, the public nature of the spat has drawn attention to internal challenges faced by West Bengal’s ruling party.

As the controversy unfolds, TMC leaders and supporters are left grappling with the implications of the leaked chats and the impact on the party’s reputation. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges of maintaining unity in the face of political and personal differences.
