Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T)’s Power Transmission and Distribution (PT&D) business secured large orders, both domestically and internationally, to build grid elements.
As per the company’s classification, orders ranging between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore fall in the category of large orders.
Larsen & Toubro has won an order to implement Advanced Distribution Management System in West Bengal. “This technology makes power distribution smarter by combining Outage Management System and Distribution Management System functionalities. Through real time monitoring and control of medium and low voltage networks, the reliability of the network will be enhanced with quick isolation of faults and faster restoration,” said the company in a filing with the exchanges.
In Saudi Arabia, an order for a key 380kV Substation which will facilitate evacuation of solar generation has been secured. Then, at a major city project in Kuwait, PT&D has won a 400kV Substation order.
Further, in Dubai, L&T’s PT&D division has bagged orders for establishing a set of EHV substations which includes a 400/132kV Substation. Several substations are being added to the Emirate’s power transmission infrastructure as it seeks to remain a preferred destination to live, work and visit.
At 11.55 am, L&T shares were quoting Rs 3,602.7, nearly flat, after erasing early gains.
In December 2024, the Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Larsen & Toubro for procurement of 155 mm/52 calibre K9 VAJRA-T Self-Propelled Tracked Artillery Guns for the Indian Army under Buy (Indian) category at a total cost of Rs 7,628.7 crore.
For Q3FY25, L&T’s order inflow announcements for the quarter stood at Rs 44,400 crore. As of September 2024, L&T’s order backlog stood at Rs 5.1 lakh crore (2.9x TTM P&M revenues).
