The Meghalaya government has launched the Meghalaya Health Advancement Policy, under which non-profit hospitals across the state will receive ₹2 crore each to enhance healthcare infrastructure.
On May 6, 2025, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma handed over the first installment of ₹1 crore to Holy Cross Hospital, Tura, and Tura Christian Hospital. He emphasized that the funds would be used for critical infrastructure upgrades, additional room construction, and medical equipment purchases.
Key Highlights of the Initiative
- Five non-profit hospitals across Meghalaya will receive financial aid.
- The second installment will be released upon submission of the utilization certificate for the first installment.
- The policy aims to strengthen healthcare services in underserved regions.
- Hospitals in Shillong and Jowai will also benefit from the scheme.
