More women than men register in Delhi’s electoral rolls

More women as compared to men have registered themselves as voters in Delhi’s electoral rolls this year, according to data released by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

Compared to an increase by over 78,800 in terms of male electors, the number of female electors recorded a rise of almost 91,000 between November last year and October 2023.

Delhi has a total of 1.48 crore voters. The projected population of the city was recorded to have increased by over 4 lakh in the period – totalling to over 2.16 crore.

According to the draft publication of the electoral roll of the city, released by Delhi CEO P Krishnamurthy, the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls has begun across the Capital’s 70 Assembly Constituencies. ‘The Special Summary Revision 2024 aims to give opportunities for correction in electors’ particulars and also to invite objections against any wrong inclusion…we appeal to all prospective voters attaining the age of 18 years by April 1, July 1 and October 1, 2024 to apply in advance,’ the Delhi CEO said.
