Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has highlighted the state’s rapid startup growth and urged the central government to expedite pending infrastructure projects during the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog.
Nagaland’s Startup Boom and Economic Reforms
Rio emphasized the success of Nagaland’s State Startup Policy 2019, which aligns with the national Startup India mission. The policy has led to:
- Increased funding for local entrepreneurs.
- Expansion of incubation centers to support startups.
- Greater participation in national and global startup events.
The state has also implemented financial reforms to enhance ease of doing business, attracting private investments in sectors like agriculture, tourism, and technology.
Push for Pending Infrastructure Projects
Rio urged the central government to fast-track key infrastructure projects, including:
- Road and bridge development to improve connectivity.
- Power supply enhancements for industrial growth.
- Expansion of logistics hubs to support MSMEs.
The CM also stressed the importance of accelerating the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, a World Bank-supported initiative aimed at strengthening Nagaland’s MSME sector.
Future Outlook
With Nagaland emerging as a startup-friendly state, Rio called for greater collaboration between the government and private sector to sustain growth. He reaffirmed his commitment to boosting entrepreneurship and infrastructure development to drive economic prosperity.
