Naxalism Will Be Eradicated from India by March 31, 2026: Amit Shah Reaffirms in Lucknow

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has once again asserted that Naxalism will be completely eliminated from India by March 31, 2026, citing a dramatic decline in insurgency-affected areas under the Narendra Modi-led government. Speaking at a mega recruitment event in Lucknow, Shah highlighted the government’s success in reducing Naxal influence from 11 states to just three districts.

Key Highlights from Amit Shah’s Address

  • Naxalism Shrinks to 3 Districts: Shah emphasized that the insurgency, once widespread across 11 states, is now confined to just three districts, thanks to sustained counter-insurgency operations and tribal-focused development initiatives.
  • Major Drop in Violence: Naxal-related violence has dropped by 53% over the past decade, with recent operations like the May 21 encounter eliminating 27 Maoists in Chhattisgarh.
  • Security Reforms & Modernization: Shah credited the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), and forensic science upgrades for accelerating justice delivery.

Broader National Security Outlook

  • Shah contrasted the current security environment with previous regimes, stating that terrorist attacks were frequent under Congress rule, while India now responds with strength, citing surgical strikes, air strikes, and Operation Sindoor as examples.
  • He also praised Uttar Pradesh’s police modernization under CM Yogi Adityanath, calling the current recruitment drive the largest in the state’s history, with over 60,000 constables appointed.

Vision for the Future

Amit Shah concluded by projecting that India will emerge as a global leader by 2047, with Uttar Pradesh playing a pivotal role in the country’s transformation.
