North Korea’s authoritarian leader Kim Jong Un will visit several food enterprises in Russia during his ongoing visit and will discuss a “range of issues,” according to RIA news agency.
Russia’s ambassador to North Korea, Alexander Matsegora, informed about Kim’s plan saying that the DPRK’s leader visit is still continuing and not over yet. Kim Jong-un also visited the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. While there, he also toured Russia’s Pacific Fleet after concluding talks with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny spaceport, located roughly 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles) from Moscow.
“As far as I understand and as far as I can judge, he is pleased with the results of the visit, although, I repeat once again, it is not over yet, it is still ongoing,” Matsegora was quoted as saying by Russia’s state-affiliated news agency RIA.
Kim inspects state-of-the-art weapons, hypersonic missiles
North Korea’s Kim Jong Un met with the Russian defence minister in Vladivostok and inspected state-of-the-art weapons including a hypersonic missile system. He arrived at the Pacific port city near the Chinese and North Korean borders and started the visit with Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu as he received the honour guard.
The duo inspected the nuclear bombers at an airfield and later boarded a warship, as seen in the video posted by the Russian defence ministry. Kim started the tour of Russia’s far eastern region on Tuesday. He focused on the arms and military talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and visited the fighter jet factory in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, according to Moscow Times.
During a meeting with Putin, Kim Jong Un vowed “full and unconditional support” for Putin as both nations have been isolated by the West over the nuclear programme and war in Ukraine. Speculations emerged that North Korea would sign a deal to supply ammunition to Russia that would be used in Ukraine. Kremlin, however, clarified that there was no formal agreement that was signed between the two nations during the one-on-one talks between the two leaders. Putin also said that Russia would not breach any agreements concerning North Korea amid speculations of violating sanctions. He, however, noted that Moscow is deepening ties with Pyongyang and strengthening cooperation on several fronts.
