In a significant breach of the ceasefire agreement, Pakistani troops intruded into Indian territory along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on April 1, 2025. The intrusion was accompanied by unprovoked firing, prompting a controlled and calibrated response from the Indian Army.
The incident occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector at approximately 1:10 PM. A mine blast triggered by the Pakistani Army’s incursion was followed by ceasefire violations, according to Lt. Col. Suneel Bartwal, Defence PRO. Indian troops retaliated effectively, ensuring the situation remained under control.
While the Indian Army has not reported any casualties on its side, official sources indicate that five Pakistani soldiers were injured during the exchange of fire. The Indian Army reiterated its commitment to upholding the 2021 Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) agreement, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace along the LoC.
This incident marks a rare ceasefire violation since the renewal of the agreement in February 2021. The Indian Army continues to monitor the situation closely, maintaining heightened vigilance in border areas.
