Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday handed over cheques of financial assistance worth Rs 1 crore each to the families of five police officers who were martyred in the line of duty. The ceremony took place on the sidelines of a passing out parade.
The recipients of the financial assistance were the families of ASI (LR) Balwinder Singh, ASI (LR) Naseeb Chand, ASI (LR) Anil Kumar, Head Constable Manjinder Singh, and Constable Inderjit Singh. These officers had sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties, and the state government recognized their immense contribution towards maintaining law and order in Punjab.
Chief Minister Mann emphasized that this initiative is a humble gesture by the state government to honor the bravery and dedication of these fallen heroes. He reiterated the government’s firm commitment to supporting the families of soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation. Mann stated that it is the bounden duty of the Punjab government to ensure the well-being of the families of these martyrs.
“This initiative is in recognition of the immense contribution of the brave hearts who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country,” said Chief Minister Mann. “Financial assistance to the families of these heroes is in consonance with the commitment of the state government to ensure the well-being of the soldiers and their families.”
Mann expressed hope that this financial support would provide a healing touch to the aggrieved families and secure their future. He also envisioned that such initiatives would encourage the youth to join the Armed Forces and Punjab Police to serve their motherland.
